10 Tips to Motivate Yourself

I think we all have moments of inspiration and for many of us it can even occur numerous times throughout the day. It can be an idea or a product or a simple question of how to do or make things better.
But most people never act on their moments of inspiration. Those great ideas and solutions and products just go to the grave with them or they see that idea they had years ago on the TV with some young kid making millions of dollars of that same concept!

                                  Inspiration + Motivation = ACTION

That is why we always hear rags to riches stories or people who had nothing turn it all around like ShahRukh Khan or Sachin Tendulkar because they were motivated. Now you don't need to be living on the street to be motivated or desperate or frustrated but from my experience things happen and you take action when you are inspired & motivated at the same time. That is the fuel that sparks the fire that sets you on the path to ACTION!

So here I am sharing 10 tips that will help you keep inspired:

1.       Quotes - Inspirational quotes were cited by many, but how they used them were as unique as they are.  Some literally had a wall or white board filled with quotes they had discovered through the years, while others took to putting a particular favorite (such as “just keep swimming,” from the kids’ movie Finding Nemo, taped to their monitor or they used a favorite quote as a screensaver.

2.       Employees are relying on you - This is related to the necessity argument. An extremely high number of entrepreneurs I talked to mentioned all the people who could be potentially out of work, if the entrepreneur did less than their absolute best and their company suffered. Feeling responsible for their employees’ economic future kept them going.

3.       Visualization - They say focusing on what success will ultimately look like keeps them going.  I worry that having fixed image of success could keep you from pursuing other opportunities that you could encounter on the way, but I am including this one here because it seems to work for so many.

4.       Exercise - Think. Sometimes being tired, depressed and wrung out is “simply” a matter of over-work or being out of shape (or both.)  Taking a break—at regular points–could be enough to keep you going.  And at the very least, if you get into shape you will have more energy—even if your exercise program doesn’t do a anything to improve your company’s  performance.

5.       Re-frame your problems - Every solution has a problem. Begin to see the opportunities created by your problems.

6.       Take baby steps - Break down what you need to do into little steps. Make the first step tiny. Walking is easier once you have started.

7.       Brainstorm - Get out a pen and write a goal or something you want in your life on the top of the page, and a list of 1 to 20.

8.       Clean up - tidy up your surroundings because environment has a huge influence and the less distracting and dirty it is, the better you’ll feel.

9.       Act like your heroes - Read about them, watch them, listen to them. Discover what they did that was special and what made them tick. But remember that they are people just like us. So let them inspire you instead of looking up at them admiringly.

10.   Make each day count- We don’t have all the time in the world. So focus on today and do the things you really want to do.

Keep in mind that if you're finding that you’re not really doing anything or nothing's seems to be happening it's usually because you aren't inspired enough and you aren't motivated enough to take action, to make those changes. In other words you are too comfortable with your situation & circumstances! I hope these simple tips bring that required change and fun in your life.

I would love it if you could share this post with your friends and colleagues. Until next time, loads of love…BSR.
